Events, Milestones, and More

If you visited St Ignace last summer, you’ll notice a few new things when you come back this year. Upgrades. Anniversaries. Expanded summer evenings. Community-driven improvements. And yes, even new coffee options located just north of the Mackinac Bridge!

Now is the best time to plan a first spring getaway, a summer road trip, or even a fall color-tour. To help you begin, we’ve compiled what’s fresh and new in St. Ignace this year.

Jeep the Mac! — May 8–9

Every year, St. Ignace hosts a panoply of amazing events such as Jeep the Mac, Bronco the Mac, the St. Ignace Car Show Weekend, and many more. Some of these feature group bridge crossings that allow participants to experience the singular thrill of driving across the Mackinac Bridge together.

We are especially excited to announce that for the first time in several years, Jeeps will brigade together across the Mackinac Bridge during Jeep the Mac. In addition to the bridge crossing, the weekend includes trail rides, local gatherings, a parade, and plenty of opportunities to soak in waterfront vibes. If you love Jeeps, this is your moment to shine.

🚗 50th Anniversary of the St. Ignace Car Show Weekend — June 25–27

Photo by: Jim & Jeanie Heethuis

This year, the St. Ignace Car Show Weekend finally hits the big 5‑0. 2026 marks five decades of classic cars, hot rods, and wheels of all sorts taking over the streets of St. Ignace during one spectacular weekend in June.

To celebrate, the car show brings expanded displays, live music throughout downtown, and vendors with food and finds. With so many special moments to honor the anniversary, this is a fantastic year to bring your car to the show.

Pre‑registration gets you a 50th anniversary gift, but onsite registration is also available if you decide last‑minute. Either way, you can be part of Cruise Night, the parade, and the Big Show downtown.

No car to display? No problem! Car Show Weekend is for everyone. Come to check out the cars, and to help us celebrate 50 years of fun. Friday’s Down Memory Lane Parade features can’t-miss acts, and then there’s a drone show over Moran Bay beginning at dusk. For even more splendor in the skies, fireworks over the Straits wrap up the fun weekend.

🌅 Summer Evenings in St. Ignace

The Summer Evenings series is a much-loved summer tradition here in St. Ignace, and 2026 is no exception. What’s more, downtown St. Ignace’s Social District makes it super easy to grab a drink from a participating establishment, then take it with you within a defined area, so you can really explore and enjoy.

No matter who you are, though, Summer Evenings in St. Ignace are made for lingering. Some nights host organized events, others are just easy evenings with people out enjoying themselves. Either way, downtown St. Ignace gives you plenty of reasons to stay out a little longer, and let the day wind down by the water.

✨ Drone Shows Light Up Summer Evenings

St. Ignace is lighting up the night sky with the 2026 Drone Show Series, a summer-long lineup of choreographed displays over the downtown waterfront on select Friday Nights between May and September.

Watch hundreds of drones dance in the sky, syncing patterns and music for a stunning display you can enjoy from the marina or anywhere along the shoreline. Bring a chair or blanket and grab a spot early. On some nights, a QR code lets you sync the soundtrack with the show, so you can enjoy the experience from anywhere along the downtown shoreline.

History & Culture on the Move

St. Ignace is doubling down on history and culture this year, with two major projects visitors should know about:

The Straits Cultural Center is taking shape in the former Walker Furniture building downtown. When complete, this renewed space will give local historical knowledge a chance to grow. It will have interactive exhibits, a bigger gallery, meeting areas anyone can enjoy, and a museum store that features locally made items.

The center will help to preserve thousands of artifacts, many hailing from the now-closed Fort de Baude Museum. The center will be a great boon for school groups, history lovers, and curious travelers of all varieties. Construction is well underway, and you can follow progress or find ways to help via the Michilimackinac Historical Society’s project page.

The Father Marquette National Memorial located at Straits State Park is getting an update as well. Closed through summer 2026, the project adds refreshed trails, new educational spaces, and interpretive elements that integrate the region’s Indigenous heritage. When it reopens, visitors will find a more engaging way to explore the site and its history.
