Here Comes the Bronco Brigade!

Roaring Across the Mackinac Bridge June 7-9, 2024 St. Ignace, Michigan

The Mackinac Bridge Tradition

When you visit St. Ignace, you will notice something interesting about the Mackinac Bridge: crossing the Mighty Mac as a group is a thing here. The tradition began back in 1957 during the Mackinac Bridge Dedication Ceremony. That day, 68 fortunate individuals were the first to walk the five-mile expanse together as a dedicated group.

The Bridge Walk has since become a beloved yearly tradition, presenting generations of Michiganders with the opportunity to actually walk between peninsula, an honor shared by many. Interested in taking part? For information on this year’s bridge walk, check out this page.

These days you will find all sorts of coordinated group crossings, from Mini-Coopers to Jeeps; semi-trucks to all-terrain vehicles, and even antique tractors. Who doesn’t love the opportunity to connect with Michigan’s most famous landmark?

Celebrating the Bronco Legacy

The Bronco isn’t new to these parts. They have been around for over 50 years, going back to 1966 when the first model galloped off the assembly line, right here in Michigan. Broncos were

Over the years, Broncos evolved to meet changing consumer preferences and technological advancements. People loved the removable roof and doors, which made for easy outdoor adventures. With an iconic box-shaped design and legendary off-road capabilities, they quickly became a cultural icon, a symbol of adventure and freedom.

Due to changing consumer demand in the 1990s, Ford dropped the whole Bronco line mid-decade. Although discontinued, the legend lived on in the hearts and garages of collectors world-wide. When Broncos were reintroduced in 2021, a whole new generation was born.

We learned that one of the coolest things about the Bronco is the ability to customize. With so many aftermarket parts and accessories available, Bronco owners can tailor their ride to suit their individual tastes, and when you come to St. Ignace, you will see them all, at Bronco on the Mac!
