Trek the Mighty Mac brings ATV, side-by-side, and off-road motorcycle riders together for a special bridge crossing and a weekend of riding. The event also includes hosted routes, vendors, local stops, and time to connect with other off-road enthusiasts.
Explore Beyond Town
St. Ignace puts many eastern Upper Peninsula attractions within reach while giving visitors a comfortable place to return to at the end of the day.
Castle Rock is located a few miles north of town. The well-known limestone formation rises nearly 200 feet above the surrounding landscape, with stairs leading to views across the St. Ignace area.
Straits State Park offers walking trails, camping and two Mackinac Bridge overlooks. One overlook is fully wheelchair accessible, making it one of the area’s easiest places to take in a broad view of the bridge and Straits.
Travel west along US-2 for Lake Michigan beaches, roadside overlooks and scenic stops. Farther west, Cut River Bridge and Nature Trail features a forested gorge, trails beneath the highway bridge and access to the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Some of the best discoveries along US-2 are the simple ones. A roadside beach, a forest trail or an overlook can easily become a favorite part of the trip.

History and Culture in St. Ignace
Father Marquette Mission Park and the Museum of Ojibwa Culture share an important site near downtown St. Ignace.
Father Jacques Marquette established a mission here in 1671. Long before the mission was built, the region was home to Anishinaabe communities whose presence and traditions continue today.
The Museum of Ojibwa Culture shares the history, art and living culture of the Anishinaabe people through exhibits, demonstrations and community programs. Visitors can also explore the mission grounds, outdoor displays and the nearby waterfront.
This is an essential stop for understanding St. Ignace as more than a travel route between Michigan’s two peninsulas.
Visit Mackinac Island
St. Ignace is one of the most convenient places to begin a Mackinac Island day trip.
Passenger ferries continue operating throughout the travel season, making it easy to spend the day visiting historic sites, riding bicycles, taking a carriage tour or exploring the island on foot.
After returning to St. Ignace, visitors can have dinner downtown, walk along Moran Bay or settle in at one of the town’s waterfront lodging properties.
