Mackinac Bridge Overlook

Straits State Park in St. Ignace offers several overlooks with views of the Mackinac Bridge. One of the park’s highlights is a handicap-accessible bridge overlook that provides a side view of the bridge and the Straits of Mackinac.

For those who enjoy hiking, a trail across from campsites 190 and 225 leads to a bridge viewpoint about 1,000 feet in. This spot holds historical significance, as surveyors once used it during the planning of the Mackinac Bridge, and it’s believed to be the exact center point of the structure. The trail continues for nearly three-quarters of a mile, eventually connecting to the North Country Trail, offering even more opportunities for exploration.

The park also features additional overlooks and a trail linking to the upper park, ensuring visitors have multiple vantage points to take in the beauty of the bridge and surrounding waters. Whether you’re looking for a quick scenic stop or a longer hike, Straits State Park is one of the best places in St. Ignace to experience iconic views of the Mackinac Bridge.
