The Huron Boardwalk follows the Lake Huron shoreline through downtown St. Ignace, bringing together waterfront views, local history and many of the places visitors enjoy around Moran Bay.

Stretching approximately 6,000 feet along the downtown waterfront, the route includes wooden boardwalk sections, paved walkways and paths through public parks. Visitors can enjoy a short walk beside the harbor or follow the route farther through downtown, with access to the marina, museums, shops, restaurants and shoreline gathering spaces.

Benches and open waterfront areas offer places to pause and watch Mackinac Island ferries, fishing boats and other harbor activity. Interpretive signs share stories of shipping, fishing, transportation and life around the Straits of Mackinac. Outdoor historical displays include maritime artifacts and an original Mackinaw boat built in the St. Ignace area around 1899.

The boardwalk passes near downtown parks, Kiwanis Beach, the Museum of Ojibwa Culture, the St. Ignace Marina and the Wawatam Lighthouse. It also follows part of the North Country National Scenic Trail through St. Ignace, giving long-distance hikers and casual waterfront walkers a shared route through town.

Visitors can enter from several areas along the downtown waterfront, and free public parking is available near several parks and boardwalk access points. The Huron Boardwalk is open throughout the year, although winter weather, maintenance and waterfront projects may affect individual sections.
