At Castle Rock Lakefront Campground, as the name suggests, you’re just three minutes away from the iconic Castle Rock, camping along the shores of Lake Huron. All campers can swim on the 2000-foot sandy beach, situated next to federal woods with trails and spring fed ponds.
The campground provides free shuttles to the Mackinac Island ferry docks and Kewadin Shores Casino every day in addition to a daily trash service. If it’s too rainy for the beach, just head into the recreation room with pool table, TV, card games, and free Wi-Fi!

At the Straits State Park, there’s plenty to do besides camp and gaze at the exquisite Straits of Mackinac. Inside, there’s a beautiful park with platform overlooking Mackinac Bridge along with the Father Marquette Memorial. Take the kids to the playground, hike some of the trails, fish, and, of course, swim at the Straits beach.
Be sure to request which of the two levels of the state park fits your style of camping the best: the upper has larger sites, making it perfect for the bigger rigs, while the lower level has great views and is closer to the beach.
