Father Marquette Memorial

Within the park is a picnic area and an observation platform overlooking the Mackinac Bridge and the Straits of Mackinac. Straits State Park was established in 1924.

The Father Marquette Memorial is located in the Straits State Park. It tells the story of Father Jacques Marquete and the meeting of French and Native American cultures in the 17th-century deep in the North American interior. Please allow about one hour to visit the national memorial, the interpretative trail and panoramic views of the Mackinac Bridge.
