Planning a visit to St. Ignace this summer? You won’t want to miss our Summer Evenings series…
What are Summer Evenings in St. Ignace?
They’re a variety of fun happenings that are hosted every evening in downtown St. Ignace. That’s seven nights of music, culture, and cool lakeside vibes. From waterfront concerts to museum programs and fireworks over Moran Bay, the Summer Evenings schedule makes it easy to plan your nights. Here’s a quick peek at each evening:
Sunday:
7 – 8:30 PM
Looking for live music in a gorgeous waterfront setting? Don’t miss Music by the Bay this summer. Gather at the American Legion Park downtown to experience the music every Friday through Sunday in June. Then, beginning around July 1, come for tunes every night until September. Ease into your week with true Upper Peninsula style, and then keep coming back each evening for more.
Pro tip: Grab a Social District cup at a participating downtown venue and bring it along to designated areas while you enjoy the music.
Monday & Tuesday:
➡️ Traditional Native American Teachings
6 – 6:30 PM
Join Frances Wyers of the Sault Tribe along with other Tribal Elders on the grounds of the Museum of Ojibwa Culture in downtown St. Ignace for traditional Native American Teachings (Mondays & Tuesdays in July & August) Hear stories, explore local history, and learn about local cultural practices. Handouts allow you to reflect on what you’ve learned.
📍 Make an evening of it: With the schedule just right, Mondays and Tuesdays offer a perfect pairing: culture at the Museum, followed by music at American Legion Park.
Wednesday:
7 – 8:30 PM
Music by the Bay hits the waterfront on Wednesdays, too. Same spot, great tunes, midweek version! To plan your evening, check out St. Ignace’s restaurants so you can have it all — dinner, drinks, and tunes.
Thursday:
➡️ Bayside Farmers Market
Marina Lawn, left of City Marina entrance, downtown St. Ignace
3 – 7:00 PM
Local growers, bakers, artists, and makers bring fresh produce, baked goods, jewelry, and more to the St. Ignace waterfront. Shop the market, snag a snack, and find out why St. Ignace has one of the best farmers markets in the UP.
Thursday afternoons and evenings are a great time to visit the downtown farmers market, and then enjoy even more live music at American Legion Park at 7 PM. We like to call that a summer evening well spent!
Friday:
6:30 – 8:30 PM
Fridays, July & August
Step into the longhouse for extended teachings from local Tribal Elders. This Friday evening session offers more time to explore traditions, stories, and hands-on demonstrations.
➡️ Drone Shows
Moran Bay
10 PM (or dusk)
On select Friday nights, the St. Ignace Drone Show Series dazzles the sky over Moran Bay with a synchronized light show. For a few unforgettable moments, the entire waterfront becomes a stage, and you and you realize you picked the perfect evening to be here.
📍2026 St. Ignace Drone Show Dates: May 8, May 22, June 5, June 26, July 31, September 4, September 25
Saturday:
7 – 10 PM
Swinging Iggy turns the downtown St. Ignace into an open-air celebration, where you can stroll from venue to venue catching live music at various spots, while kids can enjoy face painting, balloon art, and more along the way.
➡️ Fireworks
10 PM (or dusk)
End Saturday evenings with a classic fireworks show over Moran Bay. Find a spot anywhere along the waterfront and watch the show light up the Straits.
St. Ignace Social District
The St. Ignace Social District allows adults 21+ to carry drinks from participating establishments throughout downtown and along the waterfront, within a designated area. Grab a beer, cider, cocktail, or glass of wine as you explore and enjoy summer evenings. Wander State Street with a craft beverage from Social District and find the perfect spot for both fireworks and drone shows!
