If you’re thinking about a quick getaway to St.Ignace, May’s a great time to make your move. Fewer crowds. Lower rates. And super-fun events just waiting for you! Here’s what’s happening—and why now’s the best time to lock in your stay.
May 9–10: Jeep the Mac (AKA Jeep the Yoop)

Jeep fans, this one’s for you!
If you’re in St. Ignace on May 10, don’t miss the 4th Annual St. Ignace Jeep Lights Parade—colorful Jeeps, all decked out in light displays, parading through the streets of St. Ignace—it’s all part of Jeep the Yoop, adventure weekend that celebrates everything Jeep!
Jeep Parade Details:
- 8:30 PM: Jeep line-up begins at North Airport Rd. (just before the Mackinac County Airport).
- 9:30 PM: The parade kicks off, winding through downtown St. Ignace, finishing at the Family Fare grocery store.
Spectators, grab your blankets and cozy up along the route to catch the dazzling display of lights. Whether you’re snapping photos or just taking in the excitement, it’s a family-friendly event you won’t want to miss.
And don’t forget to cheer on your favorites—stick around until the end to see who wins prizes for the best-lit Jeep!
Just a heads-up: If you want to drive in the off-road adventures during Jeep the Yoop, registration closes on April 28—so don’t wait! And good news: everyone’s welcome to come out and enjoy the parade, no sign-up needed.
Extra Love for Mom

Mother’s Day weekend is always a sweet time to treat Mom to a getaway in St.Ignace. This year, the special day just so happens to be the day after Jeep the Yoop Weekend. Perfect if Mom is the adventurous type! But even if she prefers peace and quiet to revving engines, don’t worry—there’s more to do in St. Ignace.
Show your appreciation with fresh flowers from St.Ignace in Bloom (make sure to order in advance of the big day to ensure availability), or with a chocolaty treat from Murdick’s Fudge. (Fun fact: St.Ignace is home to the original Murdick’s store.)
Find the perfect Mother’s Day gift at one of the many different local shops in St.Ignace. Perhaps a sparkle from Gold Mine Jewelry is just the thing to make her smile, or check out Mackinac Straits Photography Gallery for a framed gift that captures memories of a vacation well spent.
