Gros Cap Loop
The Gros Cap Loop Trail is a 1.8-mile (2.9 km) scenic loop just west of downtown St. Ignace, offering a peaceful walk through northern hardwood forest with glimpses of local wetlands and quiet lake views. Gently rolling terrain and a well-maintained path make it a great choice for hikers of all skill levels, including families and casual walkers.
With only 52 feet (16 m) of elevation gain, the trail is easy to navigate and can typically be completed in 35 to 60 minutes. It’s also a local favorite for jogging, birdwatching, and mountain biking, especially during the warmer months from March through October.
Dogs are welcome on the trail but must be kept on a leash. The trailhead offers easy access and a quiet natural escape close to US-2, making this a perfect spot for a short adventure while visiting St. Ignace.
