SUMMARY:Native American Festival
DESCRIPTION:St. Ignace Annual Native American Festival\nMay 23\, 2026\nCelebrating a heritage rich in creativity and tradition\, the St. Ignace Annual Native American Festival invites visitors to experience the living culture of the Anishinaabe people. \nSet near the shores of Lake Huron\, the festival fills the grounds of the Museum of Ojibwa Culture with energy\, pride\, and community spirit. Drummers\, dancers\, artists\, and storytellers come together to honor traditions that have endured for generations. Visitors are invited to listen to the heartbeat of the drums\, witness expressive dances\, and experience the beauty of handcrafted art\, birch bark\, porcupine quills\, and other natural materials shaped by both function and artistry. The scents of sacred medicines and the flavors of traditional foods complete this celebration of the senses. \nThe festival is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Anishinaabe arts and culture while inspiring pride in heritage and community. Admission is free\, and all are welcome to join in this vibrant celebration. \n“It is an honor and a privilege to host an event that shares the living traditions and stories of the Anishinaabe people\,” said Museum Director Shirley Sorrels. “Their contributions continue to enrich our museum and deepen our understanding of Native American history and the First People who called this place home.” \n \n \nSign up for the St. Ignace newsletter to receive updates on this and other year round events and activities happening in St. Ignace. \nLocation: Museum of Ojibwa Culture\, 500 N.
